Great idea! ... I wonder how they'd be if you cut up some partially cooked bacon ( the 15 min would surely finish the bacon off. If not then just fully cooked) or some cheese. Maybe even scramble the eggs .... oooh the possibilities are endless

Just came over from your guest post on Carrie's Sweet Life. Good for you for really trying to make a change! DH and I were in the same exact boat and have tried to make changes, but always end up right back where we started. It's frustrating and it really hits you how dumb a cycle it is when you start adding up costs! We've had to make a change too because we recently welcomed our first child and I've become a SAHM. No more eating out for us because we can't afford it anymore! Good luck!

Found your blog on the Nest. My Hubby & I just moved to Switzerland for his work. I am now responsible for grocery shopping several times a week since our fridge is the size of a mini-fridge you get at college. We spent $800 in our first week here b/c we had to get food plus the basics. We now spend what we would have in a month in Ohio in only days here. I was in the same amount of shock you were when you heard your grand total. Eating out here is a joke. It cost us 27Chf (which 1Chf ~= $1) to eat Burger King after our trip to Ikea. So we are in the same boat, I loved that you related it to what you could have bought. I'm going to print out pictures of things we want to purchase & put them by my computer so it reminds me why we eat at home all the time! Best of luck & thanks for some great recipes! :)

Awwww, sad day! I'm so sorry it burned and didn't work for you :( Yea, I did use a large crockpot for ours, but I only had it in there for about an hour and a half to 2 hours. Hopefully it works better next time!

I would get a new fridge - one of the freezer on the bottom, french door fridge on top, stainless steel amazing beautiful refrigerators. I need quite a few extra digits in my checking account, too..
